My name is Kristi and I'm from Nashville, Tennessee. My mom, sister and myself are traveling to Cancun then on to Campeche to visit friends!!! We've never been before. I was hoping that you could give me some tips about anything of concern in this area. Also..do you happen to have any info on the bus lines that run from Cancun to Campeche. We are traveling with two Mexican boys(friends that have been in the US w/us) and he says we are traveling by ADO bus!! I am aware that this is a six hour drive :( Any tips for me???
Thanks ... we need all the info we can get :-D

Thank you for writing. You didn't mention when you would be traveling so I am going to assume that it won't be in the summer months.
You used the word "concern" so once again I shall "assume": Problems aboard first class buses are few and far in between. ADO is a good carrier in my opinion and you will find a restroom aboard. Bring a picnic basket along with snacks and drinks for the six hour ride. A couple of years ago I did a 40 hour each-way marathon bus ride in Mexico so I know how you feel.
Here are a couple of tips: Attractive women and especially attractive blondes still "attract" a lot of unwanted attention by men out on the prowl. Wear slacks or a knee length dress outside of beach areas, and select a blouse that doesn't accentuate your bosom. Loose fitting clothes are more comfortable in Yucatan anyway. Blonde hair should be piled on top of the head and hidden with a scarf while traveling or in towns away from the beach. A lot of women friends have told me that they don't put on any makeup or lipstick and that seems to help both with getting unwanted attention and a clean face feels fresher in warm climes. You may feel somewhat like a druid dressed in flowing clothes but believe me you will be more comfortable. For hiking around the ruins and pyramids, take along a pair of hiking boots, don't wear sandals or shoes. A big floppy brim hat, large lens very dark sunglasses, a fanny pack with a liter or two of water, some nuts and a couple of candy bars and you're set for a day of ruins prowling.
I hope this helps you,
Wow!! You have made me feel so much better about the trip!! And I can't wait to share this info with my mom and my sister who are as equally concerned about the bus ride to Campeche!! Most importantly.....My dad will feel so relieved to hear this wonderful news. He has been terribly worried about us going!! We were just so determined to go and live this experience and refused to let him talk us out of the trip!! So..off we will go...we are leaving NEXT FRIDAY!!! :)
Great tips about the clothing and hair!! Good for us.....We all three have BROWN hair :-D heehee and Yes....we will definately dress very modestly!!!
You are so kind to respond to this email!! You have no idea how much worry you have taken from me!! Now..I am more excited than ever and I know my family will be too!!
Thanks again!! Have a great day and God Bless you and yours!!
P.S. I will let you know how the trip goes when I get back :)
